Sideways Stories from Wayside School

This book is about Wayside School and the adventures of its students and teachers. This school is not an ordinary school. It has teachers who can turn children into apples, students trade their names and there is a ‘dead rat’ that talks like a human being! As the title says, this school is literally a ‘wayside school’ – way to the side! The school is like the leaning tower of Pisa. Every chapter introduces a new character in the story and tells us about their adventures at this school. Each chapter appears like a short story on its own. This book is full of funny incidents, including a bad teacher turning into an apple and a yard teacher eating her because he thought it was a natural apple. Every chapter is an exciting short story. It is like having different flavours of ice cream from a small spoon rather than having a big dollop of one flavour of ice cream. This book is a collection of short stories, you can read it with a time gap between the stories without disrupting the storyline.
